Get It Done!
Karen Sencich
December 7, 2006
The following article appeared in the 2007 Winter edition of “Women with Vision” magazine. Often the clients in my organizing practice suffer less from lack of space than from lack of time or lack of motivation to store things away into the space that they have available. From time to time we are all guilty of procrastination or postponing decisions. Left unattended, decisions, paper and piles of stuff simply clutter up our lives.
Therefore, I am proposing that Canada creates a semi-annual Get it Done Day. I am recommending that we assign all of those tasks that we’ve been meaning to do and “get it done” on the day that daylight savings time starts and repeat our To Do list again in the fall when the clocks switch back. Remember that daylight savings time starts earlier this year. It’s been moved forward from April to Sunday, March 11, 2007 and I couldn’t be happier. It gives us all a chance to get something done before the end of the first quarter of 2007 and if you have children, you’ll have them home for March Break so delegate some of the household workload.
Get it Done ActivitiesHere are some health and safety related items to put on your “get it done” list.
Switch to Daylight Savings Time – set clocks ahead one hour on March 11, 2007.
Change the batteries in your smoke alarm, carbon dioxide alarm and all flashlights.
Prepare and practice a family emergency plan including fire escape routines.
Review your emergency supplies and replenish or replace water and food supplies.
Label your circuit breaker panel or fuse box and in older homes, tighten the fuses to ensure that they are working.
Makeover your medicine chest. Discard expired medications and dispose of them at your local pharmacy.
Create a medication checklist of prescriptions and over the counter items you regularly use so it’s easy to stock up next time.
Assemble a comprehensive first aid kit and store it where it can be easily accessed, almost anywhere except the bathroom.
Make an appointment for everyone’s semi annual dental checkup.
Make an appointment for annual physicals for each family member.
Put your car in for a tune up and regular maintenance.
Flip the mattresses in each bedroom.
We live in a society starved for what I call “completion energy”. Many of the outstanding tasks in our lives such as preparing our tax return are either overwhelming, boring or time consuming. That is why it is important to knock off some of these important items from our “to do” list before there is an urgent need.

Grey's Anatomy ~ love this show!
Found this info on another blog ~ too cute!
Grey's drinking game.
REQUIREMENTS:
An episode of Grey's Anatomy.
A handle of 80-proof hard alcohol.
A 40-ounce malt liquor beverage (just in case).
A bottle of Chardonnay (a possible substitute for the ladies).
A 30-pack of beer. Preferably a cheap, domestic macro-brew.
THE RULES:
Every time Meredith whines, take a sip. Just kidding. We don't want anyone to get alcohol poisoning! Just forget it. Skip on down.
For every medical term you don't understand, take a sip.
Every time the Chief tells someone to "carry on," take a sip.
Whenever Alex makes an inappropriate or rude comment, take a sip.
All females in the room must take a sip for every passive-aggressive remark Addison makes towards Derek. Men, in turn, take a sip for his wisecrack rebuttal(s)!
For every word Izzie and Denny announce during their Scrabble games, take a sip. If the word is in any way sexually suggestive, make it two sips!
Participants must select of the interns before the show starts. Whenever Bailey insults your intern during the episode, take three sips.
If you catch yourself thinking how much less attractive your boyfriend or girlfriend is than Patrick Dempsey or Katherine Heigl, take four sips. If anyone asks why you're taking these four sips, you can just say you're really thirsty, or pretend you don't hear them.
Whenever George stumbles awkwardly over his words, take a sip. [NOTE: The person in the room whose hair most closely resembles George's in the episode you're watching must take an additional five sips].
Each elevator conversation between Meredith and McDreamy? Finish your beer, no matter how much is left. If you happen to be between beers, take a shot!
If a patient dies, you may take a reprieve from imbibing, regardless of what happens in the next 60 seconds. You are allotted one minute per patient death. [NOTE: This rule may also be ignored if you elect to].
Every time Joe the Bartender makes an appearance, chug an entire beer and slam the can into your forehead (ladies may substitute an awkward, feminine heave of said can toward the TV, post-chug).
If two characters on the show hook up who have never done so before (an example would be George and Christina), take a shot of vodka or whatever hard stuff you have on hand. Then chase it with a sip for good measure!
For every O'Malley/Burke chest bump, someone has to go buy more beer. Why? Because an additional three beers per participant must be consumed, and you're probably running low.
If Denny dies, pour a portion of the 40-ounce malt beverage on the ground. The rest must promptly be chugged by one or more participants.
